How to Move OCR and Voting files to Another ASM Diskgroup 11g 12c

If you have requirement to change OCR and Voting files location to another ASM Diskgroup, it is possible to change but before changing OCR and Voting files to another ASM Diskgroup with High/Normal/External redundancy follow below Instructions in 11gR2 and 12cR1/12cR2.

Moving OCR and Voting Files to Another ASM Diskgroup 11g/12c

Steps:

First Create New ASM Diskgroup with External/Normal/High Redundancy
Take output of ocrcheck command output

[root@ORACLE ACS bin]# ./ocrcheck
Status of Oracle Cluster Registry is as follows :
         Version                  :          3
         Total space (kbytes)     :     262120
         Used space (kbytes)      :       3308
         Available space (kbytes) :     258812
         ID                       : 1576249604
         Device/File Name         :   +OCRVOTE
                                    Device/File integrity check succeeded

                                    Device/File not configured

                                    Device/File not configured

                                    Device/File not configured

                                    Device/File not configured

         Cluster registry integrity check succeeded

         Logical corruption check succeeded

Take Backup of OCR File:

[root@ORACLE ACS bin]# ./ocrconfig -manualbackup

Take Backup of OLR File:

[root@ORACLE ACS bin]# ./ocrcheck -local

Above Command shows location of OLR File Location (Oracle Location Registry) use CP command take backup.

Take Backup of Gpnp Profile:

[root@ORACLE ACS ]# cd <GRID_HOME>/<hostname>/profiles/peer/

[root@OCRVOTE ]# cp profile.xml profile_DDMMYYY.xml

Add Another Diskgroup to OCR File:

[root@OCRVOTE bin]# ./ocrconfig -add +OCRVOTE12C

[root@OCRVOTE bin]# ./ocrcheck

Status of Oracle Cluster Registry is as follows :

         Version                  :          3

         Total space (kbytes)     :     262120

         Used space (kbytes)      :       3308

         Available space (kbytes) :     258812

         ID                       : 1576249604

         Device/File Name         :   +OCRVOTE

                                    Device/File integrity check succeeded

         Device/File Name         : +OCRVOTE12C

                                    Device/File integrity check succeeded

                                    Device/File not configured

                                    Device/File not configured

                                    Device/File not configured

         Cluster registry integrity check succeeded

         Logical corruption check succeeded

OCR File added to New Diskgroup OCRVOTE12c, now delete old diskgroup.

[root@OCRVOTE bin]# ./ocrconfig -delete +OCRVOTE

Now Check OCR File Location:

[root@OCRVOTE bin]# ./ocrcheck

Status of Oracle Cluster Registry is as follows :

         Version                  :          3

         Total space (kbytes)     :     262120

         Used space (kbytes)      :       3308

         Available space (kbytes) :     258812

         ID                       : 1576249604

         Device/File Name         : +OCRVOTE12C

                                    Device/File integrity check succeeded

                                    Device/File not configured

                                    Device/File not configured

                                    Device/File not configured

                                    Device/File not configured

         Cluster registry integrity check succeeded

         Logical corruption check succeeded

Now time to Replace Voting Files OCRVOTE diskgroup to OCRVOTE12C ASM Diskgroup.

Read- Dataguard Parameters

[root@OCRVOTE bin]# crsctl query css votedisk;

-bash: crsctl: command not found

[root@ORACLE ACS bin]# ./crsctl query css votedisk;

Replace Voting Files with Below Command:

[root@OCRVOTE bin]# ./crsctl replace votedisk +OCRVOTE12C

Successful addition of voting disk 56ca53c25d2d4f75bfd098daec366349.

Successful addition of voting disk 4ea955a3e6494fabbf1e3ee1524e27e7.

Successful deletion of voting disk 87d212021b704fe9bf2ebed5caf08ec2.

Successful deletion of voting disk 1319fed1a3c74f83bfd7d031191ca249.

Successful deletion of voting disk 72b3cc29053a4faebfce0c5faa189c1d.

Successful deletion of voting disk a5db7b0a51d04f35bfddd24813ce1650.

Successful deletion of voting disk 2fa08c3e36874f11bffc7f8437795192.

Successfully replaced voting disk group with +OCRVOTE12C.

CRS-4266: Voting file(s) successfully replaced
