What is Compartment in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

Compartment is one of the Resource in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure but Compartment are Logical not physical, once you created Compartment you cannot delete in your tenancy but you can rename the compartment. Every Compartment in Oracle Cloud have OCID this is very important while dealing with Oracle Cloud Support. compartments are very useful to organize cloud resources in a Tenancy.

  1. Compartments are Global
  2. By Default you will get root compartment when you signup
  3. Compartment is a Logical Resource
  4. You can delete Compartment once you created in your tenancy

  7. you can move resources from one compartment to another compartment
